Deck Supervisor

Job Description

The deck supervisor is a lifeguard on duty. They are responsible for observing and patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations as outlined in American Red Cross Lifeguard standards. Deck supervisors are also responsible for assisting swimmers in and around the pool area as well as swim instructors, as needed. Other duties include: efficiently managing swim class attendance, assisting swimmers from the lobby to the pool area, promptly keeping classes operating as scheduled, minor pool maintenance and upkeep and other duties as outlined by the management staff.

Responsibilities

- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate incident reports.
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high level of customer service.
- The secondary focus is to guide the swimmers from the lobby to their classes in a timely manner as outlined by management. This will include making sure that the students are properly prepared for swim lessons.
- Efficiently manage daily class routines without taking away from class safety including: attendance, ribbon changes, swimmer needs, instructor needs and assist customers as necessary.
- Perform various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Qualifications

- Keep and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Red Cross CPR/AED certification for adult, infant and swimmer.
- Previous swim instruction experience is required.
- Must be able to successfully complete all lifeguard prerequisites to American Red Cross standards.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds.

Swim Teacher

Job Description

Have a passion for teaching and working with kids? Join our awesome swim family! Swimtastic Swim Teachers are responsible for upholding and teaching in accordance to the Swimtastic Swim School teaching certification and curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • The main focus of a swim teacher is to teach swimming skills in accordance with  Swimtastic® curriculum in a fun, positive manner.
  • Provide continuous, positive corrective feedback to students and customers on their swimming efforts.
  • Structure class time appropriately to incorporate repetition, reinforcement, and introduction of required skills.
  • Ensure swimmer safety.
  • Maintain proper equipment and time organization to ensure timely class start times.
  • Provide Deck Supervisor with class information (ribbons, student changes, etc) to keep proper class organization.
  • Provide customers with monthly, individualized feedback on swimmers during Splash-N-Tell week.
  • Maintain proper Swimtastic® uniform standards outlined in employee handbook.
Qualifications
  • No previous swim instruction experience is required. We will provide all the training needed.
  • Training in the Swimtastic® curriculum will be provided.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Special consideration given to instructors with experience teaching swimmers age 6 months to 10 years and Special Needs.
