Lessons from children – All things come with time

There are a lot of lessons to be learned as a parent, but one of the greatest lessons I have learned from my stepson is that all things come with time.  As parents we rush to help our children learn new things and new skills.  We get frustrated when we don’t think they are potty-training fast enough, they won’t sit still long enough to hear a chapter from a book, they won’t capitalize their sentences or basic math seems like calculus to their developing brains.  We worry that we aren’t doing a good enough job and that lacking these basic skills is going to ruin them forever.  Phew.  Take a breath!

Taking a Vacation, Without Breaking the Bank

We all need a vacation and some time to just soak in the freedom of fewer obligations.  For many, a vacation is a far-off dream that entails sitting by a salty sea with their feet in the sand.  And while that sounds relaxing, there is a lot of time, energy and money that goes into making that dream a reality. There are special supplies to buy, bags (and kids!) to pack, plane tickets to purchase and connecting flights to rush towards, hotels to check into and often a schedule of activities to keep the kids engaged.  Whew!  That sounds like a lot of work and a lot of dollars go into the popular idea of a vacation (and unless you are a superstar budgeter - much more than you might plan).  Here are some tips that can help your family “take a vacation” that requires a lot less stress but still has a whole lot of fun and relaxation packed in:

Ditching the Makeup: A One-Way Street to Confidence

Makeup is the perfect solution for the dark under-eye circles, unwanted freckles and untimely blemishes.  Foundation for uneven skin tone, concealer for dark under-eye circles, mascara when our eyelashes are too short or too thin and eye shadow and liner to make our eyes look brighter or darker, bigger or smaller.  Makeup makes us feel professional and grown-up.  It makes us feel perfect and beautiful.  Right?
