Happy Birthday Missy Franklin!

Is it a secret we love Missy Franklin? Oh of course not. I've caught my colleagues reading her book to the office fish inspiring them to be stronger swimmers. The swimming champion is certainly inspiration and motivation here at headquarters - equally taken aback by the greatness of her accomplishments and the humility with which she speaks of them. While you may have known her from her success in London and Rio, here are five facts about five-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin you may not know!

Easton’s Swimming Adventures: Week #3

Week 3 started with so much excitement on the car ride over that I felt like I needed to run every red light just to get Easton there before it faded. Of course, his excitement was in part due to his assumption, (an incorrect one), that he was going to get another water gun from the Swimtastic “store” like he did after his first lesson. I did have to dash his hopes on that but did offer up a package of cookies from their snack area as a consolation prize. Surprisingly, he was cool with it.

How to Talk to Kids About Pool Safety

Posted on Nov 11, 2016 8:13:43 AM by Ladah Law Frim in Swimming, in Pool Safely, in Family, in healthy lifestyle, in kids, in safety

Swimming pools are a lot of fun for people of all ages. Often, kids just need that constant reminder to help them keep safety at top of mind. It’s easy for kids to get caught up in having fun & forget or neglect the little things that will help keep them safe.

Teaching Swimming Lessons; What My Students Have Taught Me

Hi! My name is Ashley and I have been working as an instructor at Swimtastic (Franklin location) for two years and have developed close relationships with each of the students that I teach. I teach children from the age of two years old to fourteen years old. There are many life lessons I have learned from them, and though I have seen many come and go, no matter what is going on in my life at that moment, I look up to these children. Here are just a few life lessons my students have taught me:

Helping Your Child Overcome Fear of Water

Posted on Jan 26, 2016 2:37:15 PM by Kayla in Swimming, in Sports, in Fears, in safety, in Child Health

While learning how to swim is an important skill, especially for young children, it can often prove to be more difficult for some individuals. Fear can delay or altogether prevent children from learning this life-saving skill, in addition to causing further stress and anxiety if not handled properly.
